The chalet “d’alt Schmidtja” is situated 2013m above sea level on the mountain Belalp, which forms part of the tourist resort Naters-Blatten- Belalp.  Belalp can be reached via the Brig-Naters-Blatten route, either by car as far as Blatten (parking available) or by bus from Brig station.  The journey from Blatten must be completed by cable car, which transports goods up the mountain. The Belalp cable car also operates a service transporting luggage to the chalet both in summer and winter (reservation necessary). The chalet is situated in a central location on Alpe Bel, 5 minutes on foot, or 1-2 minutes by skis or sledge west of the cable car station.
